Warm Weather Seedling release 2026!

Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant…Oh my!

Hello Garden Friends,

The greenhouses are bursting with all the warm weather seedlings. Everything is growing quickly now and the wait is almost over — our warm-weather plants will officially be available beginning Saturday, May 16th!

This date has been widely discussed here on the farm. We have to pay close attention to the weather as well as the growth of the plants in the greenhouses to get you the best possible product. As I am sure most of you are aware - we are in for quite a storm toward the end of the week. Rain, wind and cold nights do not bode well for these warm weather loving plants. The plants however are very ready in the greenhouse and we have a very narrow line to walk before they start to get too big and leggy to sell. So we have decided on Saturday for our release date - we have spread all the plants in the greenhouses and turned the heat off so they are protected from the cold nights and windy rain but will still be on their journey to hardening off for your gardens.

Before we dive too deep into tomato and pepper season, we first want to say thank you to everyone who has already visited us this spring for cool-weather seedlings, perennials, herbs, and early flower starts. After a long winter, it has been such a joy seeing familiar faces back at the nursery again, talking gardens, sharing plans for the season ahead, and feeling the energy of spring return. We truly appreciate all of your support early in the season.

Now the next chapter of the planting season begins.

This year’s lineup is packed with favorites along with some especially fun varieties we think you’ll love.

Tomato lovers can look forward to classics like:

  • Sungold — tiny golden cherry tomatoes that are unbelievably sweet (and somehow never make it into the house)

  • Cherokee Purple — rich heirloom flavor with beautiful dark fruits

  • Glitter  - developed by the same breeder that created Juliet tomato. However the fruit color is a brilliant shimmering orange. The vigorous indeterminate vines boast excellent productivity.

  • Brandywine — the kind of tomato that reminds you what tomatoes are supposed to taste like

  • Polish Linquisa — perfect for sauces, roasting, and preserving

And peppers this year are especially exciting:

  • Jimmy Nardello — a sweet Italian frying pepper that customers come back for year after year

  • Mad Hatter — playful little UFO-shaped peppers with incredible sweet flavor

  • Shishitos — always fun because every once in a while one surprises you with heat

  • Yum yum - a small, snack-sized sweet pepper variety that is early, productive, and exceptionally sweet

We have about 36 varieties of peppers, 28 varieties of tomatoes and many other varieties of basil, cucumbers, melons, eggplant, and so much more coming out of the greenhouses.

Before everyone rushes out to plant, we want to remind you:

Warm-weather plants really prefer warm weather.

Even when the days start feeling beautiful, the soil in many gardens is still quite cold — especially overnight. Plants like peppers, basil, cucumbers, melons, and eggplant can simply sit still waiting for the soil to warm up before they really begin growing. They can also be potentially less productive if they are cold for too long.

We know it’s tempting to plant everything immediately (trust us — we feel it too), but waiting for warmer nights and warmer soil often leads to healthier plants and a much more productive season.

That’s exactly why we grow at least two successions of the majority of our warm-weather crops.

First succession available May 16th
Second succession available June 1st

So if your garden still feels a little cool, there’s absolutely no need to worry or rush. We’ll have another beautiful batch of fresh plants ready for those who prefer to wait a little longer for ideal planting conditions.

As always come with questions and we will do our best to answer them.

All the best,

Elise

Join us for a flower pounding workshop May 23rd!

We will have our amazing Farm Friends teacher here leading us in making beautiful flags with flowers stamped on them. The workshop is free and will be held drop in style from 8 am to 11 am or until materials run out. We will have Ippy's Bagels and Donuts available to purchase here at the farm as well. Along with pounding flowers we will also have a big potion making station set up so kids of all ages can take part in the fun. The workshop is weather dependent. If the weather is rainy on Saturday then we will have all activities on Sunday - please refer to our social media for that call. Dress to get messy!
